Adana is my most important project, yet probably the one I put the most on hold. I originally started it with a map completely different from what it is now. It also had a very different goal, smaller, centered around countries descended from an old empire... Doesn't that remind you of something? Yeah, the Roman Empire it is. Don't get me wrong, an old now collapsed empire is always a good idea, and I will definitely have that in the new version, but at least brought together in a nicer way, I hope.
This first version was extremely messy. Would any of you try to put a scale on that map? No one? Well maybe because I had no clue how to measure things (I still struggle to...) and thus there was no scale, making any measurement... impossible. Great ideas, terrible execution.
However, I did not put this project to trash! For me, every worldbuilder's final dream should be to have a fully fleshed out world where they can play and showcase their best creations. So I tried again, this time with a new map, about the size of the Earth. I went with many iterations, but I had the shape idea I wanted to get: two big continents, facing each other, with some islands somewhere in the south. I tried to separate myself from Earth as much as I could, and honestly I don't think it's too bad. The coastlines are blurry on purpose (not because of any laziness...) to allow myself to better define them when I will be worldbuilding the world.
We cannot see a climate map for the time being. It is completely normal, as I took a break and stopped at step six, “Precipitation map” of the great Madeline James' wordlbuilding guide “Temperature and Precipitation” (definitely go check out her amazing guide and work in general). That means however that I will remain at this step for some time still, hoping to get back to it when I have more time and my time schedule is settled. Ahh, procrastinating is amazing.
