Jaömy was my first entry to Reddit's Speedlang Contest. It was messy, underdeveloped, and could have been way better if I actually had put some work into it. But at least I got it to work before the deadline!
Jaömy was a very simple conlang. Only a Past/Non-Past tense contrast, a few aspects for good measure, and verb agreement because why not? Oh, and some strong verbs... Yeah, okay, maybe not the most simple conlang but hey, nouns only inflect for definiteness with a clitic! That's simple enough, right?
It was fun combining the requirements to the language I wanted to make. This Speedlang Contest, with its requirement of more vowels than consonants, taught me about allophones, and how to use and write them. Well, I knew about allophones, but I never really used them beyond the "free-variation" that I only ever used when I just couldn't pronounce the sounds I truly wanted in the conlang.
My submission was sent with a Drive leading to two Google Docs and a spreadsheet, this organization of joint Google Docs was pretty messy with the usual way of sending conlangs now seem to be pdfs. I will not send the link there, but here is a cleaned-up version of this mess packed into a pdf instead.
